How does it decide who pays whom?

Each person's balance is what they paid minus their share of every expense they were part of. The person who owes the most pays the person owed the most, and so on, which settles everyone with at most one payment fewer than the number of people.

Can an expense be shared by only some of the group?

Yes. When adding an expense, untick anyone who was not part of it, for example people who skipped a dinner. It is then split equally between the people left ticked.

Where is my trip saved?

In this browser only. Close the tab and come back on the same device and the trip is still there. Nothing is uploaded, so to share it, use Share summary to send the settlement to your group.

What happens to odd paise when a bill does not split evenly?

Amounts are split to the paisa (or cent), and any leftover paisa goes to the first people in the split, so the shares always add up to exactly the bill.
